Event Details

It's Garden Party at Main Library in Hillsborough and everyone is invited! Tea party dress is encouraged but optional.

Plant Swap & Crafts for Families and All Ages - 11am to 1pm

Tea & Teacup Candles for Adults and Teens - 1:30pm to 3:30pm | This year attendees are signing up to bring either a traditional-ish tea party food or a historic dish from the Colonial Inn or other historic NC restaurant. Click here to sign up to bring a food.  We'll enjoy tea and share the food everyone has brought while library staff guides you through creating your own teacup candles. Tea party dress is encouraged but not required. Feel free to bring your favorite teacup for tea sipping during the event!

Cooking & Crafting History for the Nation's Birthday - In celebration of our country's 250th birthday this year, we've tracked down traditional recipes from the Colonial Inn in town as well as recipes from historic NC restaurants. Registered attendees who are interested can choose one of these sweet or savory recipes to make for tea party! Stop by the Adult Services Desk to peruse the recipes. We'll also have fragrant bayberry wax, used often during the colonial era, available to use while making teacup candles.

These events are taking place at Main Library located at 137 West Margaret Lane, Hillsborough, NC 27278.
