Solstice & the Mysteries of Pilot Mountain | Sat., December 21st,1-2:30pm | Main Library in Hillsborough | For Adults & All Ages

Join J.P. McKelvey, author of Faces of Pilot Mountain: Intriguing Journey into the Deep Mysteries, in a discussion of the history, myths, mysticism, and lore of Pilot Mountain.  Registration is preferred.

From the author:

"There are important celestial markers on Pilot Mountain making it a landscape that draws people to it.  Over one million people visited Pilot Mountain last year just south of Mt. Airy on Interstate 52.  This talk will be about the book, “Faces of Pilot Mountain,” that will include discussion of the annual ceremonies there, the stone faces and the celestial line-ups of the moon and sun. Did the local Occaneechi Band of the Saponi walk their Trader Trail to Pilot Mountain starting on Margaret Lane in front of the library?  After the talk you can grab an early dinner downtown before the annual Solstice Lantern Walk on the Riverwalk from 5 to 8 starting at the Farmer’s Market."
