Program Description

Event Details

Assistive technology can make reading, using electronics, and daily living tasks easier for people who are blind or have low vision. At this program, Lauren Tappan will demonstrate the use of a variety of technologies and provide attendees with information on local and national resources. Some examples include voice-over and zoom text for iPhones and iPads, the Seeing AI App, and handheld readers/magnifiers. These technologies can help people with macular degeneration, glaucoma, cataracts, or any other vision conditions that limit the use of a computer, cell phone or iPad.

Lauren encourages attendees who are blind or have low vision to bring a relative, friend, or caregiver without low vision if possible, to practice the assistive technologies together, but welcomes people to attend alone as well.
