Food Systems, which are made up of all the activities and everyday decisions involved in how we produce and consume food, have a major impact on our climate and environment, accounting for nearly one-third of greenhouse gas emissions, 90% of land-use change, and 70% of water use globally. These Hillsborough Climate Challenge pop-up events aim to present visitors of all ages with simple, accessible ideas for making your food choices more climate conscious, such as:

  • Meatless Monday | a global movement that encourages people to skip meat at least one week a to improve health and the environment; and

  • Shop Small, Seasonal, Local | an initiative that encourages people to support their health, the environment, and their community by buying food -- including meat -- from small, local producers and eating foods when they in season.

Hillsborough Climate Challenge (HCC) is a month-long series of events for adults, teens, and youth occurring at venues all over town aimed at presenting practical and accessible knowledge and solutions to combat climate challenge that can be incorporated into everyday life.
