Beauty, Humor, and Hope: an On-Line Poetry Workshop
Hosted by Pam Baggett
Political, social, and climate chaos, combined with the pandemic, have led to anger, trauma, despair, grief. Yet we mustn’t, as Jane Hirshfield says, “be rude to joy.” Taking time to appreciate and write about the beauty and humor that still exist, to feel hope, can offer necessary ballast and a balm that helps us navigate our lives and our writing. In this two-part generative workshop, we’ll look at poems that, in Jack Gilbert’s words, “risk delight,” then begin crafting our own. Writers working at all levels and in other genres are welcome.
NOTES:
The workshops are self-contained and will each feature different poems. You’re welcome to attend both; it’s not necessary to have attended the first workshop in order to participate in the second.
Please register by the Thursday prior to each workshop.
Prior to each workshop, you will receive a meeting link along with a packet of poems.
