Cars, Cars, Cars: An Online Generative Poetry Workshop

Saturday, July 29th from 10am-1pm Eastern Standard Time

Instructor: Pam Baggett

Platform: Zoom

Even if you don’t think you have a car poem, you probably do. A first-kiss car poem. Poems about watching Cars with your kids, about car seats and Cheerios and juice stains. Cars that took you to the beach, the mountains, to family reunions, to funerals. Cars as destructive agents: road kill, oil spills, cutting trees to make more asphalt jungles. Cars of the past, cars of the future—do cars have a future? How do you envision a post-petroleum world? After examining the work of great poets like Dana Gioia and Danusha Lameris, we’ll work from memory and our vision of the future to craft our own poems.

This workshop will take place virtually via Zoom. It is free and open to the public.
