Book Giving Tree Donation Project - September through October | You can help local businesses and organizations get books to people in need! Orange County Public Library has partnered with Prison Books Collective and local bookstores to provide books to people who are incarcerated. The items are books that have been added to a wish list by the people who would be receiving them and also meet the standards and regulations set by the facilities where they currently live.

To participate, stop by the Main Library in Hillsborough and get an ornament off of the Giving Tree. Each ornament contains information about a specific book you can purchase to donate that has been requested by an incarcerated person and approved by the facility where they live. The books can be purchased anywhere, but we encourage you to purchase from local bookstores. Purple Crow Books in Hillsborough, FlyLeaf Books in Chapel Hill, and The Regulator Bookshop in Durham are all supportive of Prison Books Collective and this project.. Bring your donation back to the library, and we'll make sure it gets where it needs to go. Many thanks in advance for participating!  For more information about this program, contact the program coordinator, Kafi-Ayanna, at 919-245-2525.  For more information about Prison Books Collective, visit prisonbooks.info
